Cathance River Preserve

Join MYBC as we explore unknown territory (at least for us) at the Cathance River Preserve (CRP) outside of Topsham.  CRP is a 230 acre easement that sits along the Cathance River.  There is an extensive network of trails that should provide a great opportunity for finding numerous woodland dwelling and waterbirds.  As we have not explored the CRP, we may have a special guest guide, John Berry, show us around the property.  This is a great opportunity for MYBC and the Cathance River Education Alliance to work together to promote education

LOGISTICS:  We will meet at the CRP Ecology Center at 7:30 am.  The Cathance River Nature Preserve is located in the Highland Green Village located off the Route 196 Coastal Connector bypass in Topsham.  Traveling on Maine I-295 North or South, take the Topsham Exit 31. Turn east toward Brunswick, onto Rt. 196 East. (An overhead sign will indicate: Rt. 196/Cooks Corner/ Bath/ Rt. 1) Continue straight ahead. Turn left at the traffic light, into the Highland Green entrance. After you have entered Highland Green, stay straight for 1.5 miles. You will see the golf club on your left. WHAT TO BRING: Dress appropriately with layers. This is a heavily wooded area near water so plan for mosquito and tick prevention.  Also bring plenty of water, snacks, and a lunch.  Also bring some binoculars.  If you don't have a pair of binoculars, MYBC will be happy to provide you with some.

Please RSVP to the corresponding email if your child plans on attending our CRP field trip.
