Downeast Audubon Welcomes the
Hancock Country Young Birders Club
The Hancock County Young Birders Club offers free, weekly, 5 hour birding outings for high schoolers with transportation, binoculars, scopes, field guides, and ice cream provided. The group travels together to various habitats for each outing using a 14 passenger bus. All skill levels are welcome! Whether you’re interested in seeing new birds, photography, listing competitively, or being outside, you’re welcome to give it a try.

Meet the HCYBC Coordinator: James Longo
James Longo leads the outings. He is a PhD student at the University of Maine. He works in Dr. Amber Roth's lab, where he researches Bicknell's Thrush conservation. He is also the Founder/Coordinator of the Hancock County Young Birders Club, a board member for Downeast Audubon, and guide for the Acadia Birding Festival. He grew up in upstate New York and received his bachelor's degree in Wildlife Science from the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry.
