Get your gauntlets ready — for our April 2026 outing, MYBC is offering an unforgettable, up-close birding experience! On Saturday, April 11th, we have the opportunity to attend a session at New England Falconry in Woodstock, Vermont. Up to 12 participants will learn about the ancient practice of falconry and get to fly both a Harris's Hawk and a Barn Owl. Experiencing these birds of prey up close is truly incredible and offers a unique way to learn about these remarkable species.
The session begins at 11:00 AM and lasts 90 minutes. Please arrive no earlier than 10:50 AM, as New England Falconry will have a session beforehand and parking is limited. There is no limit on chaperones or non-participating observers, so parents are welcome to stay and take photos. Participant slots are limited and will be assigned as RSVPs are received. If all 12 slots fill up, we will start a waiting list. Please RSVP as soon as possible to secure your spot.
New England Falconry recommends that all participants dress comfortably for the outdoors. For morning sessions and all sessions in April and May, waterproof boots are recommended.
Please note that all falconry sessions are weather permitting and cannot be held in rain or high winds. If rain is in the forecast, MYBC coordinators will be in touch with updates on our session's status.
