Winter Birding and Wildlife Tracking with Dan Gardoqui

  • Wells Reserve at Laudholm Farm 55 Skinner Mill Road Wells, ME, 04090 United States (map)

Join us for a special Sunday morning outing!

On Sunday, February 23 from 9am-noon we are very excited to welcome guest trip leader Dan Gardoqui. Dan currently runs Lead with Nature, where he helps leaders find success and meaning through nature-based consulting services & adventures. As a teenager in the Pine Barrens of New Jersey, he was first turned on to the world of birds while practicing wildlife tracking. Blending these two skills makes for a rich, immersive experience in nature. He’s excited to share these two passions with MYBC!

We will meet Dan at 9am at the entrance to Wells Reserve at Laudholm Farm where we will do introductions. We will then spend the next three hours exploring the Wells Reserve and practicing the skills of wildlife tracking and bird language.

LOGISTICS: Dress in warm, insulating layers (we'll be exploring various habitats including salt marshes, mixed forest, estuarine waterways, and open grasslands, and winter winds can be especially fierce near the shore). Wear sturdy, waterproof boots with warm socks (our travels will take us across snow-covered beaches, icy shorelines, and packed winter trails). Hand and toe warmers can help if it’s particularly cold that day. Bring the following: snacks/bagged lunch, sunblock (winter sun reflection can be intense), warm hat, binoculars/scope, camera (optional), and field notebook (optional). If you do not have binoculars, MYBC can provide you with a pair.

MEET UP: 9am in the main parking lot at the entrance to Wells Reserve at Laudholm Farm (55 Skinner Mill Rd, Wells, ME).

PICK UP: 12pm at the same spot.

Registration details will be emailed to MYBC members. Not a member yet? Email info@maineyoungbirders.org to find out how to join us on these trips!
